Digital Tools!
I am writing in italics here to suggest that you make changes like this. That way we can approve the changes made. I want to point out that although the powerpoint wasn't actually finished, I placed it here to be used. What is really cool is that I exported it as a movie but the links to the resource pages work and actually take you to the intended site. I really like the Keep It Burning video. Look at what a story a collection of pictures and music can make. Jeanne Rogers
How does this impact my teaching and learning?
What are digital tools and how can I use them?
There are many digitals that you can use to impact your teaching and student learning. Some of the common tools are cameras, scanners, projectors, and probeware. Each of these tools use peripheral devices to connect to computers and each uses software to share files, information, etc. During this experience you will get to know some of these devices and use them to enhance teaching and learning in YOUR class.
Goals:
To recognize digital tools and what they can be used for.
To be able to use tools at your disposal within your classroom or learning environment.
To enhance at least one lesson/activity that you already do by integrating digital technology.
To use resources and get help when needed. ASK ASK ASK!

What are my goals and/or expectatiions about this workshop.
If you are comfortable, share your thoughts with the group.

2. Site Resources
Individually, visit one or more of these sites to see examples of integrated projects in your subject area or grade level:
apple learning interchange: http://ali.apple.com/ali_sites/ali/ilife.html
no strings attached http://etc.usf.edu/plans/default.htm
Elyse Brunt’s page: http://etc.usf.edu/porfolios/efriedma
Probeware samples http://www.carolina.com/Pasco/index.asp
Reflect: Did I see something I liked and think I can do in my class with my students? What resources do I need and who can I ask for help if needed?
(10 minutes)
3. Digital tools: Take a few minutes to explore a tool you are unfamiliar with.
There are lots and lots of tools to use. Not everyone has everything (although we can create wish lists and write grants!). Here is a list of some of the tools and sites to learn more about them.

Break into groups of 3-5. (10 minutes to get into groups and get directions)
4. Task: (80 minutes)
After your iintroductions, brainstorm a lesson/activity that you already do within your curriculum, that you think will be enhanced by the integration of digital tools.
Think of how you can change one part of something make it digital.
Use one or more of the tools available to create either a sample product or instructional too/presentatiion for this lesson. You may not get this finished and that is OK! The goal is to feel comfortable with the process, and begin the development of a useful product. If you need help, just ask! We are available to assist with hardware, software, ideas, etc as needed.
You will have approximately 80 minutes to accomplish this task and be ready to share it.
5. Sharing (30 minutes)
Share your projects and the process.
